<h3><em>“ Just some youths from Kingston Jamaica” &#x1f1ef;&#x1f1f2;</em></h3>
<p><strong>New York, New York, February 7th, 2023</strong>.On Sunday February 5th the Recording academy hosted the 65th annual GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, California. Defying expectations and sparking a level of national pride by his fellow Jamaicans, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kabakapyramid/"><strong>Kabaka Pyramid</strong></a><strong> won Best Reggae Album for ‘The Kalling’.</strong></p>
<p>Still soaking in the win, 48 hours later, Kabaka Pyramid continues to process this major achievement.</p>
<blockquote><p>
“What it means to me, my career, my family, my team? You know; what it means for Reggae Music, positive music, coming out of Jamaica right now is just a joy. It’s a feeling of greatness, as I always say I would never be defined by things like these but, the recognition of the work on such a scale, in such a key market for us as the U.S. means a lot for us” <em>says Kabaka Pyramid.</em>

<strong>New York, NY June 3, 2022. </strong>With a groovy new bop about the intricacies of an unequal love affair, Ce’Cile enters the 2022 music space in fine style. The new single, aptly titled <a href="https://youtu.be/QyVwejAB2lU"><strong>Cherish My Loving</strong></a> is a cautionary tale against taking the love of a good woman for granted and is scheduled for release on June 3rd. The track, which is produced by Ce’Cile herself and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/keelykeyz/">Matthew “Keely” Keaveny</a>, is charming in its melody and rhythm but relatable in its storytelling. <strong>It features Bahamian artist </strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/iampadrino/"><strong>Padrino</strong></a>, who adds his own flavor to the mix of sound and story.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FQyVwejAB2lU%3Ffeature%3Doembed&amp;display_name=YouTube&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQyVwejAB2lU&amp;image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FQyVwejAB2lU%2Fhqdefault.jpg&amp;key=a19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07&amp;type=text%2Fhtml&amp;schema=youtube" width="854" height="480" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"><a href="https://medium.com/media/a611a63ff4cc49d6b5eef572f85b87af/href">https://medium.com/media/a611a63ff4cc49d6b5eef572f85b87af/href</a></iframe></p>
<p>As one of Jamaica’s most consistent and beloved leading ladies in music, Ce’Cile has thrilled audiences locally and abroad for years. Hit singles like <strong>Can You Do Di Wuk </strong>with Sean Paul, <strong>Hot Like We</strong>, and <strong>Gold Dust</strong>, stand as testament to the space she has carved for herself in dancehall/reggae music. Ce’Cile changed the landscape of dancehall music by blending the sweet sultry melodies she’s known for, with the spicy patois Deejay style popularized in the dancehall. Her debut album Bad Gyal earned her the signature moniker that has helped to distinguish the particular brand of music she presents. Albums like <strong>Jamaicanization</strong>, released in 2011, <strong>Still Running</strong>, <strong>Diary Of A Journey</strong>, <strong>Music &amp; Magic</strong> and most recently <strong>Sophisticated</strong> in 2021, serve as key moments in her musical voyage.</p>
<p>In 2021 Ce’Cile also published her first children’s book, titled <a href="https://store.bookbaby.com/bookshop/book/index.aspx?bookURL=My-Hair-Story">“My Hair Story”</a> geared at encouraging young black children to love themselves, and embrace their differences including that of their coil. With a passion for writing and reading, dancehall’s Bad Gyal intends to publish a whole suite of song and poetry books to add. Ce’Cile has worked with elite artists and producers like Trina, Shaggy, FloRida, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Agent Sasco, Sean Paul, Gavin Rossdale, Chronixx &amp; Nina Sky to name a few.</p>

<p>This latest single Cherish My Loving is great ear candy and comes fitted with a visually enticing music video set for release on the same day. This official music video is directed and produced by the world-famous <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jaywillfilms/">Jay Will</a>. <em>“I had intended the song to be released in February for my birthday and black history / reggae month but I also wanted to release the video and song together so I had to push back the release date to get Jay Will involve in the project because I also knew what I wanted the video to look like and I knew Jay Will could give me the feel I wanted.”</em> Ce’Cile says about the new single and video.</p>

			<h4>WORLD CLASH</h4>
<p><em>Press release by </em><a href="https://www.instagram.com/irishandchin/"><em>Irish and Chin</em></a></p>
<p><em>New York, New York — May 2022</em> (<strong>Irish and Chin</strong>) — Like a storybook ending, the World Clash trophy returned to Jamaica &#x1f1ef;&#x1f1f2;, the birth place of sound clash, upon <a href="https://www.instagram.com/coderedsound/"><strong>Code Red</strong></a>’s recent victory.</p>
<figure>
<p><figure style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash.jpg?resize=680%2C521&#038;ssl=1" alt="" width="680" height="521" /><figcaption class="wp-caption-text">Code Red Sound &amp; Garfield “Chin” Bourne</figcaption></figure><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
<p>Moreover, the sold-out O2 Academy in Birmingham &#x1f1ec;&#x1f1e7;, England served as the ultimate finale to World Clash, a premier sound system competition produced by New York based promoters <a href="https://www.instagram.com/irishandchin/"><strong>Irish and Chin</strong></a> since 1998 (and the final in association with UK’s Reggae Girls Promotions).</p>
<figure>
<p><figure style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash-1.jpg?resize=680%2C850&#038;ssl=1" alt="" width="680" height="850" /><figcaption class="wp-caption-text">O2 Academy, Birmingham by Junya_thirdeye</figcaption></figure><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
<p><strong>The UK was picked for the last staging of the Irish and Chin event because of its rich connection to Jamaican’s sound system culture. The UK is one of the first places throughout the Jamaican diaspora to embrace sound system culture! And based on the electrifying production, the choice was not made in vain.</strong></p>
<figure><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash-2.jpg?resize=680%2C453&#038;ssl=1" alt="" width="680" height="453" /></figure>
<p><strong>Heralded as the industry’s longest running clash, </strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/officialworldclash/"><strong>World Clash</strong></a><strong> thrusted the art of sound clash to another stratosphere during it’s exciting and vibrant 24-year run</strong>. Through World Clash, sound clash erupted into a spectacular competition with lights, camera and action, reminiscent of a blockbuster stage show! &#x1f525;&#x1f525;&#x1f525;</p>
<figure><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="aligncenter" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash-3.jpg?w=680&#038;ssl=1" alt="" /></figure>
<p>Add professional production (backdrops, one sound systems), the positioning of selectors and sounds as super stars (vs standing around a sound), formatting, effective marketing and high caliber entertainment to the mix and you’ve got the winning <strong>World Clash formula</strong>, which catapulted sound clash culture to wider audiences.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FVWITBHohZK8%3Ffeature%3Doembed&amp;display_name=YouTube&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVWITBHohZK8&amp;image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FVWITBHohZK8%2Fhqdefault.jpg&amp;key=a19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07&amp;type=text%2Fhtml&amp;schema=youtube" width="854" height="480" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"><a href="https://medium.com/media/27f66ce4f45c6feea74a68db2de5cba8/href">https://medium.com/media/27f66ce4f45c6feea74a68db2de5cba8/href</a></iframe></p>
<p>In fact, the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/officialworldclash/"><strong>World Clash</strong></a> formula was so successful that it became the blueprint for sound clash as we know it. Much to its credit, the World Clash Series revolutionized the way sound clash competitions were produced and presented.</p>
<figure><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="aligncenter" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash.png?w=680&#038;ssl=1" alt="" /></figure>
<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/officialworldclash/"><strong>World Clash</strong></a> started in New York in 1998 in an effort to revitalize the city’s fading sound clash scene. But the World Clash fever spread, spawning stagings in Canada, Antigua, Jamaica and the final one in the UK. <strong>Thousands of patrons from around the globe attended World Clash to witness more than 50 sounds in action and 13 champions!</strong></p>
<figure>
<p><figure style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/the-end-of-an-era-in-sound-clash-4.jpg?resize=680%2C680&#038;ssl=1" alt="" width="680" height="680" /><figcaption class="wp-caption-text">PINK PANTHER — 7 time #WorldClash champion</figcaption></figure><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
<p>While World Clash winners gained a coveted World Clash trophy, notoriety, bragging rights, expanded branding and increased bookings and business, participating sounds most often benefited tremendously from just being in the clash.</p>
<p>With a huge buzz centered on World Clash: The End since it was held in early May, promoter Garfield “Chin” Bourne says :</p>
<blockquote><p>
“In many ways, I believe that World Clash has resparked convos in the entertainment space on sound clash. Because of the entertaining, adrenaline rushing experience offered at the event — I believe younger sounds and clash fans feel they have something to look forward to.”
</p></blockquote>
<p>As the lights dimmed on the greatest sound clash on earth, Chin adds :</p>
<blockquote><p>
“The final staging was necessary, as we have reached a crossroads in the culture, requiring a refresh and rebrand of sound clash to bring in new talent, attract younger fans and appeal to more women. The World Clash effect has lasted for over two decades. Naturally, ending World Clash allows the industry to focus on what’s next.”
</p></blockquote>

<p>Produced by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/yo.christon/"><strong>Yo Christon </strong></a>(co-producer Dats Gadzilla — Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer &amp; Busy Signal) is spiced with a further tinge of vibrance and zest by none other than the legendary Miguel Collins p.k.a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/therealsizzlakalonji/"><strong>Sizzla</strong></a>. After his mind-blowing performance for Reggae Month, backed by a 35- piece orchestra, Sizzla delivers an action-packed verse exuding his usual fiery, yet righteous banter to an already explosive track sequence.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Co-produced by Paul Fakhourie, mix and mastered by legendary Errol Brown, who was also Bob Marley’s engineer, this EP the biggest Reggae Blues collaboration of 2022 has arrived, as Stephen Marley celebrates Nina Simone, in a Reggae style. This new EP has seven tracks as an ode to some of Nina’s greatest hits. Stephen has been building anticipation for this release for some time.</p>
<p>Riding on the high of single releases like <a href="https://www.instagram.com/queenifrica/">Queen Ifrica</a>’s <strong>Four Women</strong> in April of 2021, and Etana’s <strong>Young Gifted And Black</strong> in February of this year.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FnzEXDtRlARo%3Ffeature%3Doembed&amp;display_name=YouTube&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DnzEXDtRlARo&amp;image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FnzEXDtRlARo%2Fhqdefault.jpg&amp;key=a19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07&amp;type=text%2Fhtml&amp;schema=youtube" width="854" height="480" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"><a href="https://medium.com/media/ae2ab3c5e485d4015f1ba15bba6180f1/href">https://medium.com/media/ae2ab3c5e485d4015f1ba15bba6180f1/href</a></iframe></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Stephen himself has described the EP as a <strong>“tribute to the legendary American jazz singer, composer, pianist and arranger Nina Simone.” </strong>These tracks have given the audience a mere taste of what the EP has to offer but now it’s finally here.</p>
<p>Nina Simone, legally known as Eunice Kathleen Waymon is one of America’s most legendary singer, songwriter, and musical arranger. Outside of her music, she is most known for her role as a civil rights activist during the separatist and racist 60 &amp; 70s.</p>

<p><figure style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/kribbean.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/a-reggae-tribute-to-nina-simone-2.jpg?resize=680%2C680&#038;ssl=1" alt="" width="680" height="680" /><figcaption class="wp-caption-text">NINA SIMONE</figcaption></figure></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/stephenmarley/"><strong>Stephen Marley</strong></a> has never shied away from his musical appreciation for Nina. Producing songs for himself such as <strong>Father of The Man</strong> featuring Wyclef Jean and a classic Nina sample from her iconic <strong>Keeper Of The Flame</strong> hit. “I’m such a huge fan of her work” Mentions Stephen Marley during a Musicme interview in 2017.</p>
<p><strong>Now, many years later, this appreciation has blossomed into an entire EP, paying tribute to Nina’s musical genius.</strong></p>
<blockquote><p>
“This project is about preserving Nina Simone’s legacy, passing it on to younger generations, including my children, because you don’t often find music this substantial. When we started this project, we reached out to Nina’s daughter (Lisa Simone Kelly) and to the Nina Simone Foundation to establish a connection; we want to donate a portion of proceeds to the things that she was all about.” _Stephen Marley
</p></blockquote>
<p>As <strong>we celebrate International Women’s month</strong>, <strong>Celebrating Nina: Reggae Tribute to Nina Simone highlights the strength, power, and resilience of women.</strong> With tracks from artists like Terri Walker who does a beautiful rendition of Nina’s 1961s <strong>No Good Man</strong>. Maya Azucena makes an appearance with her take on 1971s <strong>Mr. Bojangles</strong>. Joss Stone chimes in with <strong>Here Comes The Sun</strong>, Melanie Fiona inspires with her version of<strong> Don’t Explain</strong> and Cedella Marley honors the well-known 1964 hit <strong>Misunderstood</strong>. Speaking to <a href="https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001rBpV9K0_iTL6JikrCmQIffNiF2jQgSKFHN42ifomt-tG0hLdhy5YkFtEzM_3fKStTuIjuaZi25yMqCsrUctqMWA2hEbXGRi6Kxa9hjZ12DobETAr1w6mjziA8T9DaD7DxAxOl07lz3B-DgnwJmj2CK3ovYZ_ck5mLbg09Z5lUavLbnhPbZKmqQByXYpivL1lEYg_gjqgfOHB_ECqR3M7b-bz7MCbFL-QKOiCQ0mKAmFpm8zhqo0Ahg==&amp;c=AKz5iC3TvLAsIK8oozSSD0s8uHRm9_QWPnx_unnCLSGvdJmCj9RvNQ==&amp;ch=Fc36c7zMR7n8pP-LExF8kGpm8OGKwOvkvEZZ858b38-vnKjz9OaaBw==">Billboard Magazine</a>, Patricia Meschino, Marley shared that he chose to work exclusively with female artists on this project because <em>“our queens deserve recognition as the mothers of creation. These are beautiful, strong women and their voices do Nina’s work and reggae solid.”</em></p>
<p>On this release day Ghetto Youth International is proud to release the official video for <a href="https://www.instagram.com/etanastrongone/">Etana</a>’s <strong>Young, Gifted, and Black.</strong></p>
